Closed for Winter

When we open back up on Memorial Day, we’re going back to our roots. We’ll only be hosting bike packers and through hikers.

Another great summer has come and gone.

We’re looking forward to all the new friends of 2024. Hopefully you’ll be one of them. Enjoy your quiet time.

Lovely people and really helpful. They gave us a lot of suggestions for the area. The bunkhouse was really nice, clean etc. And we had so much fun on the bicycle.

“Highly recomended for all bikers, amazing spot! Conrad (the owner) is so friendly and welcoming, The rec path to town in on the edge of the lot and takes you downtown. There is a beautiful lake just a stones throw away. They have bee hives on the property and we where lucky enough to get to try some honey comb.
The best and most affordable spot in helena. The bathrooms and showers are nice and clean.
Do your self a favor and check it out yourselves.”
— James Law

What a great place! Nice tent pads for tents, good 3-sided shelter and wood-burning stove- which we really needed because it rained/ hailed- and clean bathrooms/ shower, all for an amazing price. Easy access to trails and for riding into town. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be back! Only regret we didn’t get to meet the hosts- Thanks for creating MTB City!!

You don’t need to be rich…

Shovel full by shovel full, we’re getting there.

Shovel full by shovel full, we’re getting there.

…to live a stoked life.

When we were kids, we played in the woods because we couldn’t afford to do anything else. That’s what MTBCITY is all about. We took a devastated piece of ground in a forgotten corner of Helena, bought a hundred dollar cabin off of craigslist, committed to living frugally and invested every penny we could while working our rear ends off to create MTBCITY, USA! A place ANY bike nut can afford.

It’s been quite a journey getting MTBCITY ready for you. We’re a small mom and pop campground built exclusively by and for mountain bikers. Over the years we’ve driven piles of nails, moved mountains of dirt and mixed a lot of concrete transforming the the old site of Helena Asphalt into a campground that’s in an amazing hideout.

AMENITIES: You’ll have FANTASTIC COOL CLEAN WELL WATER (much better than the fish piss that comes out of the tap in town), a campfire, a deck to watch sunsets over the park, a bbq, a lake to swim and fish in, indoor or outdoor shower both with hot water, toilets, picnic tables, an enclosed rustic kitchen, a covered and secure bike rack, and loaner town bikes.

Bikepackers: $11 per pad per night (Maximum two campers).

We now take reservations: RESERVATIONS

We look forward to meeting you,

Eileen & Conrad

Please note:

  • We can’t have dogs here because of our proximity to the Centennial Trail. People have been bitten.

  • We’re both from the Mountain West (Eileen: Montana, Conrad: North Idaho). We’re proud of our culture. We’ve both traveled extensively and yet embrace where we’re from. If you’re wound up, in a hurry or judgmental of rural people or have a fixed idea of how campgrounds should look, please go to the KOA. If you want to relax, enjoy the ride and learn about our culture and how we live then we look forward to sitting by the fire with you.
